Yes, all my life...I was the kind of kid in school that others picked on anyway, I was small and shy...in 6th grade, right after desegregation in the 60's, some new black girls formed a gang at our school and they singled me out for some reason, guess I was an easy target, they used to follow me around and kick me and push me down...when I got out of school, I was still an easy target, this time for the opportunists and predators of the world...somewhere along the way I learned that by being a clown, it made life a little easier...I hid behind being funny...it was survival for me...but lots of people still intimidate me...I don't like confrontation, so I try to avoid it at all cost....I would rather walk away than fight...but then don't most of us feel that way?

Yeah, I used to be intimidated by this really smart-ass girl in high school. Then one day we both missed the bus and walked home together- turns out her "mean" attitude was just a protective shell because she was so insecure. She actually just thought she was being funny, and it was true that people gave her "space". You should always keep that in mind: the meaner the person, the more insecure they probably are.

There are three women in the shelter where I stay who intimidate me to no end.
I've heard through the grapevine that there is a "hit" out on me. I never did anything to them, I'm just trying to get out of the shelter. They dont like anybody, though, besides each other. If you aren't in their clique, you will be verbally and emotionally abused to no end and staff will do little to nothing about it (I already reported them once . . . It was supposed to be anonymous, but they found out and things got worse for me, so I've stopped trying to change it).

yeah, I have, there was this lady I used to work with. She was generally a nice person but if she didn't like what you were saying or didn't agree with you then she would yell and get a really nasty look on her face. She would treat you like dirt and openly not be sorry about it. She told us one time that she almost killed her husband because he had cheated on her. She had a gun and was pointing it at him but he managed to calm her down. Being in her presence was almost alarming and even though she had her "nice" times I was always on egg shells around her.

As an actor I work with tons of people who initially intimidate me. But when you spend as many long hours with people running around a stage rehearsing with barely any food, natural light, sleep or break time you kind of develop a common ground.

Yes, I have. You sound like you are doing the right thing. Hang out with someone else and avoid the jerks. When you go back for your 20-year reunion they'll be fat, bad and pasty.

I have to be honest - I get intimidated all the time. I don't know why. I hate confrontation, I keep to myself and usually let others have their way. I wish I could break this vicious cycle.

Stupid girl in my school, she always does mean things to my friends, half of them have filed lawsuits because she punched them or otherwise. One time she ran away from school. I actually saved my cousin from her once and almost got into trouble. The best defense, is defense.

This lady who runs the school I was teaching at last year. She had a way of intimidating you by showing up unannounced and have you come into her office for no apparent reason and she always had this penetrating stare.
