My favorite:
Pomodoro's on Hanover Street. It's very small (16 tables) and sometimes you have to wait to be seated -- on chairs outside the restaurant or in the bar next door. I have never had a bad meal. In fact, I have had many of my most memorable there.

I like a few restaurants there:
Mother Anna's (on Hanover St) has the best eggplant rollatini
Rabia's (on Salem St) has incredible veal dishes
Riccardo's (on North St) - great old school italian - great red sauce pastas and grilled meat dishes
Cibo's (on Hanover St) - their risotto is some of the best I've tasted
Fiore's (on Hanover St) - pricier than the others, and the food isn't as good, but it has the best seating up on a roofdeck. Lots of fun to go have a drink and appetizer up there
and for dessert:
Cafe Vittoria - (Hanover St) - the BEST capucino I've ever had, and some awesome people watching. If you are looking to take some pastry home, avoid Mike's and cross the street to Modern Pastry. I think they're much better.
Have fun!

Beach Saint is RIGHT ON-when I saw this question, I was thinking Pomodoro. The wild mushroom carbonara is AMAZING!!!
Best pastry would have to be Modern pastry.
Enjoy your dinner!!
