I replaced the bulb but still stays on.Its not the brakelight but the taillight that stays on.I did kick the brake pedal but that didn't help.

If the light switch is on then all the lights will be on. If the switch is off all the lights will be off. O.K ?? There is no way one tail light can burn with the switch off. If all the lights are burned out but the one thats on it's possible. It is a brake light. Turn on the flasher and see what blinks. There is no way one tail light can burn unless something else is burned out or a wire is broken.

okay, this is pretty weird.

If all the taillights stay on, then you've got a switch problem. If it is just one taillight, try turning on the parking lights and look for a burnt out bulb in one of the other spots.

You might try using the flashers to see what effect they have as well.

Just some random ideas.

WHAT KIND OF CAR??

some luxury models have a "one side or the other" parking light that stays on all the time for night parking.

remember the taillights are dim, the Brakelights are Bright,

AND it`s summer, are you sure that sunlight isnt playing tricks on you while it bounces around inside the taillight lens?

get really close and look hard.

Well if it is the running light that is staying on I would guess either a bad ground wire to the light, or a bad headlamp switch.

most likely it is going straight to ground. check the wiring.
