Democrats - Whenever you finally succeed in removing all things Christian from the public square, education, Court houses, government buildings, Memorial monuments in respect to former Presidents with scripture engraved on them, from grave stones in Soldier Memorial Cemeteries,.......
What will you do if and when you criminalize the bible, How will you teach your children about what is right; and what is wrong, where will they get their Morals; about how to live a decent and clean life?
What do you base your morals on?
Did you ever think about peoples souls?
How can chaos not result from a society without God?

avail_skillz,
You say, criminalizing religion would in effect "solve problems".
But should'nt it be left as an option for the folks if they do wish to practice their faith, How can you govern the land without God? The bible says, 'And the government shall rest upon His shoulder'
Ya see? God's governance is better influence than man's.
What if everyone just ignored the Ten Commandments?

I'm plenty accepting of others religion, I'm just concerned for others who are lost and in need of Jesus Christ!
I'm not trying to shove Christianity down your throat! I'm not willing to Murder anyone because they do not believe!!
No, All I'm doing is welcoming you to accpet Christ, that's all any Christian can ask!!
Muslims on the other hand, don't they believe that they must kill if you don't convert!

I might add . . . if the proposed legislation on criminalizing hate speech is passed . . . ministers of all faiths who teach homosexuality is a sin would and could be charged with a hate crime.
Responding to an earlier comment, this country was most definitely founded on the Christian God . . . our money does not say In Budda we trust, or In Allah we trust etc and our Pledge does not say One Nation under God and the Goddess.
I have no problem with people believing in whatever higher power they choose (or none at all) but arresting ministers for preaching what is in the Bible and held to be true by Christian beliefs? C'mon. The question is, would the same hold true if a Muslum minister were preaching about death to the Infidels, which, of course, is all Americans, then would they be also charged with a hate crime? Or is that just free speech?

It's really pretty simple. The less the government cares about, supports, or talks about religion, the more free you are to follow whatever flavor of it you feel to be the truth. The thing is, that applies to everyone, not just you. So if you want YOUR freedom of religion, you have to be willing to accept other people's freedom of religious belief, or lack thereof.
It is not necessary to subscribe to some particular creed in order to be moral, unless the only way you measure morality is by your own religious beliefs. If that's the case, then all who are with you will go to "heaven", and all who don't, won't. If you want to try and "save" those people, have at it, but morality doesn't come at the point of a gun or some court ruling.
I wish you the best of all, just don't try and tell me what my heart should feel, in reality, or because someone else says so.

I don't base my morals on the bible, which I consider to be mythological. I actually function quite well without input from any religion, as is my choice and my right. My morals are based on treating people the way I would prefer to be treated, with compassion and respect and attention to their rights as individuals. What I have observed is that this is often not the case with many people who actually claim to adhere to a religion, such as Christianity for instance.
No. I don't think about people's souls. I don't think people have souls.
Nobody is trying to "criminalize" the bible. I myself want it kept out of public life because I don't believe in it, nor do my Jewish friends, or my Buddhist friends, or my Hindu friends, or my Muslim friends. Why should your book, or any book, take precedence over another? Believe in it all you want, read it all you want, but leave me out of it.
I think a society without god could function quite nicely, thank you.
And finally, where the heck do you get the idea that most Democrats don't believe in the bible? The fact is that the majority of Democrats are Christians of some stripe or another. They just don't believe in forcing their beliefs down other people's throats.
Please do some factual research before you lay accusations on others. It would certainly be the Christian thing to do...Judge not lest ye be judged, and all that.

I'm sorry but I have better morals than most Christians I know. At least I am not a hypocrite like they are and go to church on Sunday to make up for all the bad things they've done during the week. There is right and wrong. Nobody needs the bible to tell them that.

So only Christians know right from wrong? That is news to 3/4 of the world. You take care of your soul and I'll take care of mine, thank you very much. How dare you try and shove your beliefs down my throat. I am a Christian but not your kind. I actually practice what Christ taught you don't.
Clean life? Like Mark Foley, oh now there is a clean life for you.
I don't know anyone who wants references to God removed from all you mention. They just don't want to trip over it or have it crammed down their throats when they don't want it. Is that too much to ask?
Chaos seems to be doing quite well in a society with God. Example is the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran. Another example, although currently quiet would be Northern Ireland. Both sides said God was on their side.
It is people like you that give Christianity a bad name.

You really need to lay off the glass pipe.
No one has said anything about criminalizing religion, although it would probably solve a lot of problems if it were illegal.
Paying taxes to support religious displays of a religion you do not follow, is not freedom of religion as the founding fathers of this great country intended.
Now get off your self-righteous high-horse, and realize, that God doesn't give a crap how many monuments that have crosses on them, that you protect, nor how many people you force into supporting Christianity, only what kind of life you live.
Quit worshipping idols, and start worshipping God!
If you put as much energy into worshipping God, as you do worshipping those idols you are crying about, you might just get into Heaven.

It's not necessary to be religious to be a moral, ethical person. And, in case you haven't heard, not every religious person worships your god. No one is intending on criminalizing religion. What we don't need is for our government basing its actions on the beliefs of any one particular religion.
