I purcahsed a rail saverpass on the website and got them mailed to me. However, everytime, I contact them, they never answer the phone or return my messages.

Has anyone had bad luck with them in the past?

If you got the right pass you ordered, they should be legit. They may be very busy and it could very well be a small office.
If you have any specific questions, ask them on here. I have used eurail passes a lot. What I know about saverpass is that you must be traveling together with somebody(s) for the pass to be valid.
