Don't let all these stories scare you. I have one and he's quite a treat. Very spoiled and quite easy to take care of. I've never had a pet with so much personality that's so fun to have. Isn't that expensive either. He's getting bigggggggggggg and I mean HUGE. Am waiting for someone to drive by and say they seen an alligator in ma window. lolol Long as you keep them at the right temperature, 85 degrees at all times and never below 80, with tons of greens, figs, and crickets (bought at the pet store, not caught in your yard) for treats. and a lamp for basking, everythings cool. Just have to change the water everyday (I use a cat litter box for that) and feed em like you do any other animal. I use an old entertainment cabinet infront of my picture window for his living quarters with sticks going all over it, and a 10 gallon tank I keep his food in, lined the bottom with dry coconut dirt and alfalfa. Have a ball if you get one, there really not creepy and don't stink.

Only if you are very prepared and know exactly what they need and how to handle the things that are bound to come up. Personally, I'm not fond of iguanas. I prefer bearded dragons and corn snakes because they are *usually* more tolerant of being handled. I would suggest going to a reptile show or a breeder before buying. Really talk to someone who knows the breed you are interested in before you buy. Read up on what is going to be required for habitat and diet. Iguanas are BIG, and often not particularly friendly. If you just want something to look cool in a tank, then it may be what you want. But they do have a pretty high level of maintenance.
Know what you are getting into.

If you have never had a reptile before, I'd say no. If you are a beginner with lizards, I highly suggest a Bearded Dragon or Leopard Geko. They are extremely easy to care for! (Beardies are very hardy and gentle so they are probably the best choice for all beginners) They eat a lot, as all lizards do, and bearded dragons are highly dostile as well. Iguanas, on the other hand, can be majorly agressive and territorial.

It really depends on everything. Did you do the research on all the iguanas you have the opportunity to buy? Did you find out the minimum cage requirements for the particular one you want? Did you find out heating/lighting/food requirement and how large the dent in your electricity bills and general money? Do you no where you can buy all of the equipment you need?

It really depends on everything. Just recently i have bought a snake and i did my research on the 4 available breeds of snakes that were in my area. In the end i chose a corn snake based on colour and price.

Have you looked into them a lot? That's quite a commitment you're taking on. There are thousands of unwanted iguanas out there that people got rid of due to size. I've seen some that have gotten six or seven ft long!

Seriously, look into it a LOT before deciding.
