well, the single season home-run record is 73 set by Barry bonds in 1998 at pacific bell park. I do not think that will ever be broken again. I can see A-rod having 50+ but not 73.

Oh probably. Eras go in cycles and someday someone else will come along. It may take a while, but on the other hand guys like Ryan Howard and Prince Fielder may be talented and strong enough to challenge it in any given year.

Just like everyone is theorizing Glavine is the last of the 300 game winners. Forever is a long time - things will change again or someone else will come along.

Hitting keeps on getting better (even without the roids), so in 20 years it'll be broken.

I doubt we'd wait long for this to happen. I believe either A-Rod, Ryan Howard or even Mark Teixiera would have a great shot at beating #73 and being the single season HR champ.

If the Rockies ever get a genuine masher with Bondsian plate discipline and Ripkenesque health/tenacity, oh yeah.

Just a weeeeee little tweak to the humidor in April and watch that 74th fly by Labor Day.

Sure. Every record gets broken some time.

Alex Rodriguez will break it next...I heard Bonds is gonna play till he gets 3,000 hit's now!! Lets start counting!!!

Lets see he needs 88 more hit's to 3,000!!! By the way he's been hitting he will be playing till he's 100!!!

A-Rod is most likely
Ryan Howard has a chance if he cuts down on his strikeouts (he is first in the NL is striking out)

I think A-Rod will be the next one to do it. But after that it could be several years before anyone gets close.

Possibly A-ROD but remember...everyone thought the same thing about Griffey. Everyone else is just speculation.
