THis happened to myself. YEs you will need to replace it. WHen you replace it you may want to out a container below the water heater with a pump to blow the water away. This leaking will happen about 15 years after you buy a new water heater.

My guess is yes. For now, kill the power to the heater. Turn the circuilt breaker off if it is electric or turn the gas off if it is gas. Call a plumber and get it fixed. Now would be a good time to adjust the size of the unit that you have. You could go larger and get one that is more efficient. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with individual models, but from the description you might be able to fix the problem with a new cap and some teflon tape. If the body of the heater itself is cracked, or if it's older, you might be better off replacing the thing.

Probably...unless you like water all over the floor. That seems pretty old to me. I would call a plumber and/or landlord/landlady.

If it is just leaking around the cap try using plumbers tape around the cap or replace the cap.
