Do you have anything to say about his claims, or are you just going to ignore and misinterpret them because he worked for Clinton? They're all pretty valid.

The author of your blog doesn't even say anything, other than "Absolutely unbelievable." Why is this unbelievable?

"I think it is a legitimate question to ask...You wonder if this bridge was built to withstand the massive heat we have had this summer."

Joseph Romm (who by the way is one of the world’s leading experts on clean energy, advanced vehicles, energy security, and greenhouse gas mitigation who served as Acting Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy) does not say the collapse was caused by global warming. He says that the increased temperatures due to global warming may have played a factor.

Hmmm... given the history of the structurally deficient bridge, I think inevitably the extra weight a motorcycle and the wind speed of a sneeze could be cited as a contributing factor... especially after the fact.

Highlights from one of the source articles:
* 1990 - Federal government rated the bridge "structurally deficient" in 1990. Strategy of patchwork fixes and stepped-up inspections was adopted.
* 1993 - Inspections yearly vs every other year
* 1993 - 3,000 feet of bridge surface cracks noted; later sealed.
* Throughout 1990s, inspections showed fatigue cracks and corrosion in the steel around the bridge's joints.
* 2001 - University of Minnesota's Department of Civil Engineering report revealed some girders were distorted and evidence of fatigue on trusses. Conclusion: The bridge might collapse if part of the truss gave way under the eight-lane freeway.
* 2005 - Federal inspection rated the bridge structurally deficient (again), giving it a 50 on a scale of 100 for structural stability
* 2005 - State inspection raised no immediate concerns
* 2006, June 15 - Last full inspection was completed; no immediate concerns raised
* 2020 - Slated year for bridge replacement

Gov. Tim Pawlenty said the state was never warned that the bridge needed to be closed or immediately repaired.
"... it appears from the information that we have available that a timeline for that was not immediate or imminent, but more in the future." Really?? For 17 years they knew the bridge was structurally dificient and "more in the future" is defined as scheduling replacement 30 years after is was first identified as structurally deficient.
There's the real idiocy, 'in a nut case'!!

You need a remedial reading course. He didn't say it WAS caused by warmer temperatures.

But that is just one of THOUSANDS of factors the investigative team will definitely look at. Try to keep your panties on until their report comes out, OK Cupcake?

How bizarre is that - just figures a Dem would come up with that one!!! Where do these people come from with these off the wall remarks? We do need to upgrade our bridges because they are old and are wearing out or were not properly built in the first place - has nothing to do with global warming!!

I never heard of the Clinton official who was apparently taken out of context by this liberal bashing blogger. This question would have much more credibility if you sited the original piece.
