It seems the only concerns he has are for himself. I think he's afraid of being sued so he keeps emphasizing that the collapse was caused by an earthquake. Some of the experts are saying that the seismic activity was caused the mine collapse not the other way around. From what I've seen he hasn't commented on the over 300 violations in 3 years that his company received.

Yes and all the government people have done was attack the mine owner.
After reviewing the earthquake records from the USGS web site. I BELIEVE THAT EARTHQUAKES WERE A CAUSE OF THIS CAVE IN.
The government people should shut there trap tell there is a unbiased investigation.
Being a retired mine superintendent the government people have no call to blame the mine at this time. What they should be doing is helping the rescue crews that by the way are not gov mine rescue but miners trained in mine rescue from mines in that part of the country. volunteer mine rescue teams that do the rescues do not assign blame and work with the mine people to do the rescue.
The government a**holes show up to get face time in front of the TV cameras.

In this case the mine owner himself worked his way up from a start as a miner and is more concerned then mines owned by big corporations. he is there not some corporation PR person.

I am sure he cares alot about the miners like his own family. He sure was p oed at the media and did defend himself. He has to look at the financial aspect of this tragedy, and if it was a quake he is probably covered by insurance.

I think he wants to defend his company because it's come under a lot of fire for the collapse. I don't know how concerned he is with the miners themselves, but it would appear that he is trying to get to them as fast as possible.

None whatsoever. All he was doing was trying to cover his own a** from the lawsuits that are sure to come in the future. He ranted on and on, blaming the collapse on an earthquake while attempting to defend his safety record.

No mention of concern as to the well-being of the miners, or for their family members who have to be living a complete nightmare right now.

He's concerned I'm sure, but when people are speculating on the cause and no one really knows what happened it's everyones 1st reaction to defend themselves.

He's obviously a very scared, angry man, isn't he? Perhaps he's feeling cornered, what with all the violations they've had at the mine lately. I just pray that all the miners will be found alive.

I'm sure he's feeling worried about those miners. It would be like losing friends.(or at least acquaintances) No one wants to lose employees due to death!
