It has almost been 30 years since Elvis died and the other day there was a "pilgrimage" to Colingwood. His movies are on TV, people talk about him and so on...The other day they put together a hologram to personify his image on American Idol...

Why is it? And also, did he actually die from an overdose?

He died on the toilet from what is called a VASO VAGAL SYNCOPY. Which means his heart gave out under tremendous strain. Not very dignified for a King, poor soul. Most likely due to all the barbiturate Tom Parker had prescribed for him to keep the Elvis show on the road. Sad for a guy of 42.

He did die from an overdose. He had been addicted to prescription drugs for years. I was never a fan, but have to admit that he was one of the biggest influences in rock and roll history. He had a world wide fan base, and people have just never forgotten him. I understand that his estate has made more money since he died than when he was alive.

He's a cultural icon. I sell stuff on eBay and every item i send out includes a print out of Elvis in one of his signature poses with the caption, "Than' you! Than' you very much!" It's just something that everyone can identify with....and I don't even listen to his music! lol

And, yes, I do believe that he died from an overdose.

Because he's an american icon. He was talented and good looking and a little rebelious. Alot of what he did back then may seem tame now but back in the 1950's a swivel of the hips made him public enemy #1.

Haven't you heard that Elvis is still alive and living in the UK? Millions around the world refuse to let his image etc. disappear. He'll always be around.
