a saying that i like and apply to my life is "one does not find theirselves, one creates theirselves"
this is also along the lines of "you are today becoming what you will be"
so, i would say think, look around you, observe life and people, see what you like and what fits and also what doesnt feel right, decide the type of person you wish to be, investigate but learn to slowly analyze ideas and concepts, do not dive in "gung ho" but see if it feels right
keep an open mind, but when you feel deeply about an issue, dont let others or your culture sway you from your beliefs, or your ideas

Whoa...You found the wisest man in all the world by accident my son... just kidding.
Listen a wise man is one that realizes he does not have all the answers in life. Instead he learns that every one he meets and everything he experiences in life is teaching him more about himself.
And the area he "touches" within himself, and lives by, is the contentment he has with the answers he receives in life. Those answers may not necessarily change but instead there are deeper levels to the original answer that he did not understand or see before. And those are the "answers" he lives by and is guided by and shares with others more with deeds than with words. For that is the way life is.
To find himself is the great quest of life. One discovers both his strengths and weaknesses. One discovers mysteries that cannot be answered in this lifetime by man. Instead one must be satisfied and contented with the answers that addressed his specific needs and problem. For life is too big to learn all the answers. But it is big enough for you to learn the answers for your own life.

once again...
"life is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself."
imagine you are a cook and your mind is the kitchen (like in the analogy with lemons and lemonade...). of course, first you need to see what's in the fridge to see what you could make for dinner. but once you made up your mind about what kind of dishes you like in general, you will need to adjust your shopping list.
now, don't mix up knowledge and wisdom! that's two different things! but indeed wisdom has to do with knowledge of yourSELF, your kitchen.
knowing your kitchen means: where are my knifes? how do i turn on the stove? where is the light switch? do i have enough equipment to cook for 6 people? what's in the fridge (regularly)?
knowing yourself means: what are my strengths and weaknesses? what am i afraid of? what do i love? why do i love it? why do i have that particular favorite movie/picture/song/colour/dish? what are my believes and how did i establish them?
so that's knowledge. essential knowledge.
when you've come that far, then you can start cooking - in an instant! any time, no preparation needed, just start - and try out any combination of what you find interesting.
accordingly, you can start thinking, reflecting upon yourself. try things out, do what you like, stay curious, go and say hello to the world - and LEARN from the results.
so if someone gives you lemons (or something else you might not find useful at first), you COULD make lemonade - but if you know your kitchen well, you might even be able to get a fantastic lemon cake out of it!
THAT is the road to wisdom -
err and err and err,
but less and less and less.
(i forgot who said that...)
enjoy your meal!

No man is wise seeks himself, only an arrogant one. A wise man seeks God, who then can find himself, though understaning his own depraved nature and his need for God.

any wise man knows that he must first seek himself, so he therefore seeks out the truth of his own heart...the answer to most questions are usually within.

no wise man seeks himself. no wise man calls himself wise for that is not wise. But one who is smart will find himself through time.

Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
Seek the source of all knowledge, not yourself.

You should not spent any time in thinking about finding yourself.... Only your own actions will in time, reveal yourself to you!
