The average television time would be 3 hours but if the game goes into overtime then it could be longer such as closer to four hours but there are things can extend the game such as injuries and how severe they are.. If the game also a lot of penalties then game will be longer but the average is 3 hours.

Three to three and a half hours and that is what turns me off most American sports. They all seem to be totally geared to suit the advertisers. Ironically, I enjoy watching an NFL game...when I have 3+ hours to spare...the same with ice hockey...one hour of action but almost 3 hours of screen time. The last few years at play-off time, I have been taping the games and watching them later at night or early next day....I see all the action, plus have as many instant replays as I want, all within 60 to 90 minutes...no commercials, no pre or post game analysis or inane opinions from an overstaffed network.

Usually, they run about 3 hours and 15 minutes, barring overtime, of course.
