Whether the "morals" people want to admit it or not, G&L people contribute a great deal to the economy. Look up their average earnings, spending power, and tax contributions. Yet they get much less for their taxes than heteros get, for example, most don't have children, but their taxes go to support all the breed-like-jackrabbits' children.
They also tend to be a peaceful and gentle population, not inclined to assault, aggravate, kill, rob, rape, etc.
They help to clean up a lot of the messes that they don't make, like they frequently take jobs in social services or other helping professions.
As for their buying power, any company would be foolish to say they wouldn't deal with the gay community. Imagine opening a restaurant in Miami Beach and not being welcoming to gay customers. Gay customers are the best tippers!
They are not trying to take over American culture, like homophobes think. They have been highly discriminated against, brutalized, hated, bashed, and excluded for years and intelligent straight Americans do care about them. As for the rest of you, get a life. How do they threaten your marriage or your life, especially since you haters usually keep your distance and don't go anywhere near gays & L's.

My reasons against it are the same as my reasons against a politically powerful straight culture within the United States.
Fair is fair and equal is equal. Give the same attention to all groups without distinction or preference. Anything less is reverse discrimination and calling the kettle black.
That said, a lot of people don't approve of homosexuality, so finding people that would support a gay or lesbian culture is more important than people that support a straight culture. It's more rare, and a more worthy cause.

I presume homosexuals have been politically active for decades. I also presume they nave been voting their conscience just as have the heterosexual population of this country, I support the right of an individual to vote the way they want.
But supporting ones right to vote how they wish does not mean that I agree with their choice, or their values. I expect the same courtesy. Somebody may disagree with my lifestyle, my values, or with how I vote. That doesn't bother me. If it bothers you, that's your problem, not mine. I don't even mind a discussion on controversial topics. I enjoy the academic exercise... as long as neither is out to convert the other. But this venue is not one for discussion. That's what chat rooms are for.
I don't understand why people are so excited about differentiating between subcultures. It is divisive...it does nothing but stir up trouble..This country really needs that... more trouble.

There is no politically powerful homosexual culture. Yes, they vote, but I wouldn't call the homosexual community a "powerful" political force.

Why ?? are you gay??? I don't think they do anything bad to society....I really think they contribute except for the fact that I'm not exactly a supporter of same sex marriage, so I don't think it's right.
But as long as someone is a nice person who means well I don't judge them based on sexual orientation. I actually try not to think about it or factor it into anything.

to each his or her own, I fail to see what being gay has to do with politics, would being gay somehow affect your ability to make intelligent decisions? I don't think so.

I believe in the traditional family of man and woman and don't feel it is healthy to rear children any other way.

I'm all for the choices they make if that's what they want, just don't make me do it or think they deserve more rights than straight people have...
