First, a disclaimer. I don't think Bush is the best President of all time, but Hitler #2? Come on. Get real, people. By going into Iraq, he took out a guy who would put people in a giant meat grinder feet first just to hear their screams as they went down. (Look it up if you don't think it's true.) What was Bush to do, allow THAT to continue just so he wouldn't be judged harshly for going into Iraq? (I agree with whoever says we should have pulled out of Iraq once Hussein was toppled, but maybe, just maybe, it's not that easy to pull out of the mire overnight. Ever think of that?)
Lest we forget Clinton attacked the soverign nation of Kosovo for the same thing that was going on in Rawanda at the exact same time. What made him decide on Kosovo instead of Rawanda? Logic?
How is it logical to call Bush Hitler #2 when the above went on just a few short years before he took office?
It seems to me that if Bush had just stayed in Afghanistan and not gone into Iraq, he's still be considered Public Enemy #1 because he is a Republican, which apparently is the biggest crime of all according to many folks these days.

I'd spot him 2% or so of popularity for not going to Iraq. Of course, he'd be roundly criticized for 'supporting that evil Dictator, Sadam Hussein' and 'abandoning the Iraqi people,' because he was "stuck in the quagmire of Afghanistan..."

A lot higher then he is now. The Republicans would probably still hold Congress and Bush would be in the mid fifties I would guess. If Iraq was going well I'd say about the same. Moot point now isn't it though?

Let's get something straight here... Only Clinton can put military people in Afghanistan. If Bush does it he's Hitler #2 or Stalin #3.
Damn good thing Bush remembered the people in Afghanistan that Clinton forgot all about.

He'd probably be at least in the low 50s popularity wise, though all the other things he's done would have taken a toll.

Unfortunately, HE didn't go to Afghanistan or Iraq - he sent our young men and women instead. I sure wish he did/would go though!

These wacko's would have still hated him. They are still mad over the Gore thing. Their hatred for Pres. Bush runs so strong though their veins, that they lose all rational thinking. he could make all of their lives just as peachy as it gets, and they would still hate him.

If he had chased the terrorists into Pakistan and captured Bin Laden ? - he would be as popular as he was when he got elected - maybe even more so.

Probably not very popular, because the Islamic Jihadists in Iraq would have seen an oppurtunity to attack the US while we would have had our attention on Afghanistan.
So, all in all, that would have been a stupid move.
