what is the difference between a Hurricane, a Monsoon and a Typhoon?

I know they all involve wind and rain but is there a difference?

A Hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean would be called a Typhoon in the Pacific Ocean. Basically they are the same thing; tropical depressions that develop a circular movement and become dangerous storms.

A Tropical Depression in the Atlantic Ocean could be a Monsoon in the Pacific Ocean.

A Monsoon can be a season or a strong storm; like a Tropical Depression. In Southeast Asia they don't have spring, summer, winter, and fall like the more temperate zones do. They have the rainy season and the dry season. In the rainy or Monsoon season it can rain every day. In that way a Monsoon is a season full of the tropical depressions called monsoons.

Hurricane and typhoons are revolving storms whereas monsoon is not a storm but a seasonal wind.
The storms that develop in the Atlantic ocean are called hurricanes and those which develop in western Pacific ocean near Phillipines,China and Japan are called typhoons.They can form on any day within a certain period of the year and their formation cannot be predicted even though their movement can be monitored and even be predicted to some extent.
But in the case of monsoon,as they are seasonal winds, their onset can be predicted (with a few days' difference)from past records and pre-monsoon weather conditions.Unlike the storms which last for a few days ,monsoon will last for months together.For example the south-west monsoon over India begins at the end of May and lasts for four months till the end of September.Throughout the monsoon season, the winds blow in the same direction over a place unlike the storms in which case, the wind direction and speed vary every moment.Monsoon conditions are best developed in the subtropics,as in east and southeast asia.The term "monsoon"is popularly used to denote the rains,without reference to the winds even though monsoon winds are stronger sometimes.Without monsoon ,the peninsular India would have become a desert as they bring a lot of rain.

A Hurricane and A Typhoon are the same except Hurricanes form in the Atlantic Ocean & East Pacific Ocean and Typhoons form in the West & South Pacific Oceans.

On-the-other-hand, Monsoons are completely different from Typhoons & Hurricanes because Monsoons are seasonal winds that are cyclic (happen in a cycle) also they either bring dry or wet weather while Hurricanes & Typhoons don't always hit the same place and they are noncyclic and they change from season to season.

A Monsoon means the Rainy Period in the Tropics or the Far east.when it does not stop Raining for Weeks and causes Floods and Flash Floods as in India and China. A Hurricane is a Terribly bad Storm with Huge Seas and Flooding and Building Damage that Occurs in Atlantic , and Typhoon is same as Hurricane but is in Pacific Ocean.

Typhoons are Pacific or Indo-Pacific storms and Hurricanes are Atlantic phenomena. Otherwise typhoons may get larger than hurricanes. They are different names for the same type storm. (By the way, both are named for storm gods in their respective areas.) Monsoons are not "storms" as such, but are extreme rainy seasons- usually in tropical areas where mountains rise quickly above coastal plains and normally are in the tropics. In other places similar rainy seasons are not called monsoons. In places along the Andean Fall the season of torrential rains occur but no one calls them "monsoons".
