Lived in both....NEITHER! I've been away far too long to give you a valid, current comparison. (Left in 1991, moved around the country and ended up in Ireland!)
OK, I'm proud of my heritage, some. Well, a little. And I did have some great times in each state, but they held me back. The were (still are???) too hung up on image and being someone you're not. The social classes were too far apart, and racism was (still is???) still ugly.
OK, some positives? I got a good education, good suntan, and I learned to cook some fantastic (although often fattening) dishes. People have manners and social graces. Church...well, I won't go there right now. The lakes/water sports, the seafood, and appreciation of ceiling fans, football, really really cold beer, oh and the arts are pretty good...
I'll take either. I'm a little homesick now.

I prefer the people of Mississippi. They tend to be more friendly, humble, helpful, and generous. Unfortunately, Mississippi is also poorer.

i personally like mississippi but louisianna is also fun and they have GREAT kajun food for a girlfriend or something.....

I think MS, because its closer to Alabama, which has Alabama Football.
