As soon I thought the Jets had a shot in the AFC East the Pats go on a MAJOR shopping spree: Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, and that super-versatile linebacker ( forgot his name). Tell me anyway the jets can win the division or any weaknesses the pats have

Uh.... to put it simply, no.

I believe the Jets are on the way up, and Eric Mangini is a great coach, but they are not exactly in same league as the Pats... The Patriots are easily one of the top 3 teams in the league, if not the best. Tom Brady now has a really good receiving corps, their defense is good, everything is good.

Sorry.

Well let's compare the two teams.

QB- The Patriots have Tom Brady, who is in his prime and is not showing any signs of rust. The Jets have Chad Pennington who did show potential last year to be a consistent starter and he did lead his team to the playoffs; however, his statistics(17 touchdowns, 16 interceptions) were not as good as Tom Brady's(24 touchdowns, 12 interceptions).

RB- The Patriots lost Corey Dillon and even though Laurence Maroney had a promising rookie season, he was sharing the load and he has had some offseason shoulder problems. The Jets have now a consistent 1,000 yard rusher in Thomas Jones. And let's not forget that Leon Washington averaged 4.3 yards a carry and scored 4 touchdowns.

WR- The Jets have two consistent wide receivers in Laveranues Coles and Jerricho Cotchery. Meanwhile, the Patriots have Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson, Kelley Washington, Wes Welker, and Randy Moss. All of the Patriots receiving threats- including Randy Moss- are average. However, the Patriots always run a very succesful passing scheme by having four to six average receiving threats that substitute on every play. This confuses defenses because since none of them are that bad, you cannot just commit to one of them and a lot of times, they are not sure which ones are going to be involved in the play.

Defense- The Patriots have always had a great defense with players like Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, and Richard Seymour. And with the addition of 2-time Pro Bowler Adalius Thomas, it's only going to get better. The Jets do have some promising young talent in guys like Eric Barton, Victor Hobson, and Jonathan Vilma; but it just doesn't match up against the tested and true Patriots defense that has gotten them three world championships.

Coaching- The Patriots have Bill Belichick who has won 3 Super Bowls and has made the Patriots a perennial Super Bowl pick every year. The Jets have Eric Mangini; a Bill Belichick disciple who had a great first season. But let's not forget Nick Saban and Romeo Crennel. They both were Bill Belichick disciples who showed great potential in their first seasons as head coach for their respective teams and ended up going 4-12 in their second seasons.

It seems to me that the Patriots have the advantage in most aspects of the comparison. Personally, I see this year as another monster season for the Patriots where they go to at least the AFC title game if not the Super Bowl. I don't think the Jets will win the AFC East. However, I do think the Jets are a good team that has a great chance of making the playoffs if everybody stays healthy and they finally turn that potential into results. It could go either way.

They absolutely have a shot. I see them dead even with the Pats at the end of the year. So the patriots picked up Moss, what has he done on his other teams beside put up individual numbers? He was a part of one of the most potent offenses in Minnesota and they end up choking their way out of the Super Bowl after going 15-1 or 14-2 a few years back when Moss was in his early years. Then on to the Raiders, enough said on how that turned out. Jets go far in the playoffs this year but not all the way.

. This can not be a serious question. The pats got the best defensive free agent and traded for randy moss. Don't forget the patriots have Tom Brady and the jets have Pennington. They have no shot against the Patriots. I

I think that the jets can do very well aganist the Pats. Remember that the jets coach learned alot when he worked under Billenchik (or how ever u spell his name) so he also knows alit of his tricks and will be more prepared when it comes to facing him.

no way the pats have excellent players on both sides of the football plus the best coach in football however the jets require a lot of respect in their division.

hell no, pat offense and defense will crush the jets, but the jets are good, will bounce back and will win ten or so games thanks to jonathan vilma and thomas jones on both sides of the ball
