Now its gotten to where I can smell it rather the ac is on or not. However it isn't leaking antifreeze. Its a '98. Any ideas? Im being told it could be the Heater Core. Which is $$$$.

Your heater core is probably leaking as that is the only way you could smell anti-freeze with the heater-a/c on. And unfortunatly replacing the heater core usually mean removing the dash which is a big job.

To be sure, have the engine cooling system pressure tested and coolant will drain out the a/c evaporator drain. That will confirm a heater core leak.

Keep an eye on your antifreeze level. You are probably only losing a small amount so far. If you can't find any leaks anywhere else it probably is the heater core. Pull up the carpet on the passenger side near the dash and see if you can feel any wetness in the padding. Also look for a slight greenish or red tint (depending on what color antifreeze your truck uses) in the water that drips from your truck when the AC is on. If you can smell it, you have a leak somewhere.

The Heater core is bad and will eventually leak all over the floor. The smell of antifreeze is most common with a bad heater core. mechanic ,long time

If you smell it inside the cab, it's the heater core leaking.
