My boyfriend told me that he gave his ex a pair of diamond earings before. I asked him what made diamonds so special and he said, their sentamental value. He said one day you might get a diamond from me and I got scared.

I didn't know what to say, I didn't know how to react, I was just so taken aback.

I managed to play it cool though thankgod, see here's the thing, I have lived in a shelter before and have lived in poverty all my life.

I have eaten from the food bank and am used to living with the bare neccessatity's.

A diamond is just beyond anything i can imagin, i mean I'm not used to it at all!

I remember somone would give me a plant or a coat and I'd be happy to keep warm.

I don't know what to do? How do I take this in and feel like I deserve it, when all I've done is live in poverty for a long time and never felt like I deserve something as nice as this!

And, I feel like running away from him, but I know I don't want to, this is so hard!

Please help!

Don't run away from a good thing. That makes no sense. You run from the bad. Just accept that he does like you, that you are worthy, and maybe those bad times are behind you now.
Just because you got off to a bad start doesn't mean you don't deserve better - everyone does. If he wants to give you something like that, its because HE BELIEVES YOU ARE WORTH IT, and if a diamonds are not your thing, that's OK, just be gentle and let him know, before he buys something.

I think you should talk to him and let him know how you feel. He should understand. A diamond is just a materialistic thing and don't think too much about it. I also think you of all people deserve something with such great value if you have been through so much.

If the day comes round that he gives you a diamond just give it back and say thank you but it's your friendship that has more sentimental value than the diamond.

Diamond = Mastercard
Friendship = Priceless

You're not afraid of the diamond, you're afraid of him. Just because you've lacked many things in your life doesn't mean you deserved it, nor it means you need to live the rest of your life this way. Just go with the flow, enjoy love.

I think he might be referring to a diamond ring... keep him around if you like him! And remember don't expect anything, but be grateful for what you do get!

A diamond is just a pretty rock.

It only has value because people make it valuable.

Tell him you'd really rather he do something else to show that he cares for you.

life is full of speed bumps and ladders to climb, which it sounds like you've had alot of speed bumps in your life and everyone climbs their own personal ladder. climb it as high as you can go. apparently he sees something in you and you feel you do deserve it. aleast it will mean more than bling to you as most women. good luck to you

Get over it...its just a materialistic item....I would of taken it as an insult. He is making it seem like if you are the best little girl to him you will be rewarded..like a dog!
