old style plate g683 hgj the g is the year
on the new style the 1st to letters is the area of regestration, then the number is the year for example 54 and 04 is a 2004 reg car
rude letter combos are allowed and usually expensive

First two are the registration area next two are the half year. The 06 being one half and 56 being the second half. The last three are random and meaningless

on old or newer cars? depends on the country also..
the older cars have a first letter X etc.. show what year it was registered..
newer ones, with 2 letters show the year + where it was registered , must like irish plates.
and the rest are random letters.. obviously certain combinations aren't allowed as they spell out rude words.
