I plan to do it for a month. It's for a close friend of the family.

Thats a TRICKY question. Really it comes down to the HOW they NEED you to house sit. Understand that the job of one party asking another party to help them is fair compensation, which is a... vague term. Simple put, so if its just checking the place out, feeding some animals, doing misc. this and that, then shoot 100$ month could be fair. But then again so MANY factors come into play. How close of a friend, do they have many resources, is the house rattie and uncomfrontable for you, or hugh, spacious, and manision like, with big TV's and plenty to eat? Is there animals envolved. Do they want you to do anything there? This is going to come down to you and them talking and coming up with a fair deal that makes both parties comfrontable. I've done this for a number of friends/realitives, and for a strench like that I just would hope for the gas money there and back, no use banking on your PEEPS!!! Again its a perceptional, moral, situational question with no true right answer, different strokes for different folks....
