Make sure to wear shorts that will cover your bottom. Generally, if you want emphasis away from your bum, try wearing bermuda shorts. They will give more of an illusion of less shape by making a straight line down over your bottom and down a good portion of your legs. Don't wear clothing that is tight, because that will probably put more emphasis on the parts you don't want emphasis on. But, don't wear really bulky, "boyish" shorts either. That'll look like you're covering up things.
edit: I answered mostly from a fashion perspective, but if you don't mind the opinions of others, then wear what you want.
edit2: Contrary to what the person below me thinks, skinny girls look best in shorter shorts, but it also depends on how long/short your legs are. I'm tall and uncurvy, and bermudas tend to make me look even more like a pole. If you wear really small shorts that don't at least give you full coverage in EVERY position possible, you'll just be uncomfortable. If you want people to look at your underwear, then that's fine. And if you want to keep emphasis on your bottom, wear short shorts. I don't care.

If you're comfortable in shorts then wear them. Live for yourself, and screw the people who mock. After all, we are all human here, (I think) if other people don't like it, then TOO BAD!! (If others think it's bad, then show them some male cleavage, AKA, plumbers butt.)

Me too. Why don't you try gauchos or capris? I just wouldn't wear something that shows a cheek. Other than that, I love to wear gauchos, they are so comfortable!

no, no, and NO! really it doesn't matter what you wear. well, if you want to know my mom went threw this. she wears them, they keep her cool. the part she didn't like was the showing of her vains. they looked fine, but she insisted that they were old and broken. do what you want that makes you feel happy.

if you got nice legs, then go for it, but if you don't have a flatering lower body, go for the capri. They are cool to wear on hot days and you wan't have to feel shy about it.

i wear shorts and guys told me they like it. dont wear shorts longer than your finger tips when u put ur hands at ur sides......you'll look big. i like wearin shorts......my bum's big but cute.

YES, somethings you should just try and hide. BEP talk about sexy "junk in the trunk" too much is just nasty. Just like seeing a guys fat hairy gut covered in steel wool!!

yea its okay. just dont wear a tube top or a shirt the shows too much. look normal and not too flashy. =] then its okay...
