What are you talking about? There is not a shortage of oil, only a shortage of brains if you believe that crap!

It is interesting. A few months ago oil was down and the gas prices were up. Now oil hits a record mark and the gas prices are lower. Anyone besides me think we were getting gouged a few months ago? Oil prices are starting to fall due to decreased demand. Hopefully gas will follow. I don't believe we are using more when it is 3.00 a gallon so our reserves must be built up by now. I wish we could all drive only when necessary for the next year or so and cause an over supply and create gas wars to get rid of it. I miss those days when competition was the key word and not collusion.

The United States has enough oil at home to be a member of OPEC. Yes, it is true.
We import about 30% of our oil, but we could easily drill that amount. Oil companies refuse because there is more money to be made legally by importing it. There is a law regulating the price of home drilled oil, and that is why we import so much.
It is a common misconception that we both need to import oil, and that we import most of it. Those are both false.
It's all about oil profit, not supply.

High oil prices always hurts the Economy, and the people.
Hey, Democrats. Gas prices are down!!
Time for you to get some more Drilling stopped, and get Gas Prices back up.
Time for you to put more Taxes on Gas.
Anything to hurt the Working People, and get the Environmentalists more Power.

It will be bad for a while but will ultimately subside once we increase our domestic drilling and refining capacity. The U.S. has smartly decided to use other's oil and save it's substantial surplus to avoid such a crisis.

Unless there is no alternative source of fuel, oil will be a problem for America whose citizens are dependent on cars and industries for their living.

We aren't that far from true renewable energy. Too big of a crises and we will have the political will to take those final steps.
I'm for it, actually.

First we have to deify the tree huggers and start drilling and building refineries.
Then we have to build nuke plants to produce electric.
But God forbid we hurt a little bug the tree huggers and libtards piss and moan.
