Christopher Moore - he's satirical, hilarious and very fast paced & readable. Some popular titles amongst my book club include - Blood Sucking Fiends, a Love Story and it's sequel, You Suck; Lamb; Island of the Sequined Love Nun. Have fun at the beach - I'm jealous!

I like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. The fun, wise-cracking heroine is a bounty hunter in pre-Sopranos New Jersey. Good for laughs and isn't taxing on the brain cells. Enjoy!
