Does anyone know the best way to secure a fence gate to the house? The walk way in our yard follows along the side of the house from front to back. Being we are only putting up a fence in our back yard, it makes sense to place the fence gate across the walk way. However, we are not sure how to secure the gate to the house. We want the gate to open on the house side, so we will put hinges on the fence post across from the house. Do we just attach the latch of the gate to the house directly, or do we need to anchor a post to the house somehow? (we can't sink the post into the ground as the walkway is there and is made out of concrete).

I'm assuming that the house is constructed with brick veneer.
I think you can find a metal plate that can be attached to the concrete with anchor bolts, and can be attached to a 4X4 post.
The plate should have four holes to fit the post, or you can drill them.
Center the post on the plate, drill holes and use lag bolts to fasten the plate to the post.

Then drill into the concrete walkway so that the holes fit near the outer edges of the plate. Anchor the bolts into the concrete, threaded ends up. Set the post with plate attached onto the bolts and tighten down with nuts and lock washers.

Hope this makes sense and solves the problem.
Talk with a hardware supplier.

Attaching the latch to the house is easiest (assuming the house's exterior is wood), but it might not last. And closing the gate hard will vibrate through the house.

You could make a hole in the walkway, insert the post, and set it in new concrete.

I'm kinda confused but I usually you have to drill holes into the concrete and for securing things to the house you usually put a post next to the house, call a professional or even go to lowes or home depot they can probably help you.

You can purchase various types of anchors or hangers to attach to the house. Tha main thing is to have a stud in the wall to anchor to. You can anchor to the concrete by using a concrete drill bit and anchors. Kind of hard to explain without hands on. Home Depot or such can help.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/pXoV0
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.
