i have a video that's an avi file & when it plays in windows media player you can hear it but it shows shapes & colors instead of the video. how do i get rid of that so it plays normally.. i have a windows vista computer acer aspire. thanks

u need a codec ... try ffdshow ...

It needs a video codec
There r 10's of different codecs

If u dont know the needed codec, then try this free program
"mpcstar"

It have most of the video and audio codecs nowadays

Download this player plays almost anything so no looking for the rite codec

search out codec bundles. Download one that is says it's complete.
