Yes we should. Mind you, if we only had English people in government we'd have no prime minister and hardly any cabinet ministers.

I think people do not quite understand how our parliament works. We have a UK parliament. The Scottish Parliament doesn't have powers that equal those of the UK parliament: their powers are only over certain legal areas that do not need to be controlled by the UK parliament. The same goes for the Welsh assembly. People forget that, after the 1707 Acts of Union, the English and Scottish parliaments were merged. Until the creation of the new Scottish Parliament, it was a vast majority of English MPs who voted on domestic issues concerning Scotland.
The reason people want an 'English parliament' (you forget, the UK parliament is predominantly English) is that they are jealous. For example, prescription drugs are free in Wales. This is because Wales spend their budget differently. If you want free prescription drugs here, stop moaning about the Welsh and go vote the Green Party - as far as I know, the only party in England backing free prescription drugs.
The Labour party doesn't have a majority in either the Scottish Parliament nor the Welsh Assembly. Clearly the people there know how to use their votes. People in England should just vote differently to achieve what they want.
I think if we were to have an English parliament, we should then grant Scotland, Wales AND Northern Ireland independence and complete autonomy. Because the vast majority of MPs in the UK parliament are from English constituencies and it would create more unfairness.
Just to reiterate... if we had our own parliament, we would not get anything else for free... all you stupid uninformed people would just go and vote Labour or Tory.

If the English want a separate parliament from Westminster, there is nothing can stop them.
Here in UK about 85% of the total population are classified as English, Anglo-Saxon.
What's stopping you? You're a major force with massive voting power. Just do it.

Yes we should.
The so-called Union is now a marriage of convenience, with the peoples and MPs of Wales & Scotland allowed to vote on matters which affect the English majority, but having a get-out-of-jail free card for every piece of legislation they don't like:
- University tuition fees? - good idea, but not if you're Scots;
- Prescription charges? - ooh, absolutely, except for the Welsh.
And meanwhile it is the English votes and tax-payers who subsidise all the above. Sorry if I offend my celtic cousins, but that is the reality, based on simple numbers.
I have nothing against a certain amount of devolution (or Federalism - bad word!), but for this to be a marriage of equals English people deserve the right to set the laws and rules for England.

Not much chance of that with a Scot as PM and half the cabinet being Scottish.
Actually my father was Scottish, my mother was English and I've lived all my life in England but I always consider myself to be BRITISH.
What I'd like to see is devolution turned back and the formation of a truly British Parliament again. After all, Scotland gave us a King, not the other way round and now it's given us most of the government so why should they be worried about being ruled by them.

I'm Welsh and think it would be a shame to break up the UK I love being British and part of Britain (I'm not a Welsh Nationalist).
We fought together under the Union Jack in two World Wars and it would be a shame to see it dissolved now.
I also think its very unfair that they have abolished the prescription charge in Wales but not all over the UK. My other half is English and his disabled mum who lives in Kent still has to pay for the medication she's dependent on. Its wrong and unfair.

Norman ? Saxons ? Anglo Saxons ?
How many generations do you want to go back, and where do you draw the line ?
Dangerous ground I think.

I regard the act of the Blairina in this as treason> It is all very nice for the Scots and Welsh but they do not seem to realise that together we are strong but separate we are lambs to slaughter
