while still a student, phil spector got a group together called the teddy bears. He took the title from the inscription on his fathers tombstone!
He went on to create the famous wall of sound, where he put two playback heads on a tape recorder. No one could understand how he created the effect.
Produced records for ike and tina turner, the righteous brothers (unchained melody and you've lost that loving feeling) and all that doo wop stuff. Became a recluse when no american dj would play river deep mountain high by ike and tina, after he had spent 10000 dollars creating it!
Ended up on trial for murder!

To Know Him Is To Love Him" is a song by Phil Spector, recorded by his first band, the Teddy Bears. It went to the Hot 100 number-one hits of 1958 (USA). The title was altered to "To Know Her Is To Love Her" (The Beatles) and returned as "To Know You Is to Love You" (Peter and Gordon)
In 1987, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt covered the song, taking their version to the top of the U.S. country singles charts. In 2007 Amy Winehouse recorded the song acoustic for a B-side of You Know I'm No Good for Napster.
