Or the Top Contributor badge? Does any of that really matter to you at all?

I am so glad you asked this, because I've been wondering the same thing about various people. For me, I would have to say no... to an extent. I mean of course I smile inside when I get a "best answer" , but ultimately, it's because I touched someone else in some small way. I don't know if I've even received thumbs ups, I don't look, but I do give thumbs ups when I see an answer I like just in case that person is checking. I don't know anything about the top contributor badge, other than seeing them on some people's pages. I am here mostly for fun, and to help the occasional person smile. Thank you for asking.lol

Points and Levels? Nope. They tend to be meaningless.

Best Answers? Perhaps when the asker chooses and says that the Answer was helpful.

Thumbs Up and Down? Too many idiots have the ability to pass them out like candy or thorns.

Top Contributor? They come, they go. Does anyone really pay any attention?

I tend to ignore most of the systems that others might find important. But then, I didn't get excited about high grades and little smiley faces when I was a student.

The Answers to your Question shows the wide spread of what other User think or feel. This same diversity has be on Yahoo! Answers almost from the opening day of the site. I'm sure the question will come up time and time again.

Isn't it always the way that the only things that matter to me are the negatives. I have had a "thumb's down fairy" that has followed me since March. And I've come to accept it. But it makes me sad knowing that someone wants to make a point to me that they don't like or agree with me. It's rather bizarre that they would take the time to do that if they dislike me so much.... but I accept it. (But yes...... it matters soooo much to me for some reason) I just so wish I could talk to this person and just say..... please tell me what it is and lets talk about it.

As for the points and BA's and thumbs up and stuff. Gosh.... it does feel great when you get recognized for something you feel or think or express. But even if they found another way to do that without the points.... we'd still love this place!!

I guess that's what we are about. Not looking at the postitives as much as striving to improve the negatives.

I get a little tickled when I get a best answer or thumbs up. Thumbs down hurt my feelings a little sometimes and I could care less about a badge. It has no significance to me at all.

I used to keep close track of my points, but I have fallen out of that grove.

Now it is just simply about helping people! I get great joy in helping a total stranger by lending my input to answer their question.

I really could care less about the points, and all that stuff. I just come here to relax a little, and to enjoy myself. (However, it was kinda nice receiving the little gifts from Yahoo such as, the water bottle, the light bulbs, and the hat for participating.)

I don't really care about it but it feels good to get a thumbs up or best answer because you know you are helping someone =)

The points, BA, and badge have significance for me . . . I am trying to achieve things through earning them and moving up through the levels. I don't give too much value to the thumbs rating system though, or the stars.

I like having a goal-driven system out here to use. I think it keeps it interesting.

Right at the moment I am trying to get to the next level, so it is points
I used to really care about the answers but last week I answered 2 questions correctly, and the "best answer" was incorrect.

It is curiousnesses that drives me though, I like to find solutions to problems often going on line and researching, and like hearing about how others view things..
