There are no timing marks on the briggs engine. The timing is set. As long as the key between the flywheel and the crankshaft is intact the timing is ok. The only other way is if it has points, you can effect the timing with point gap to some extent. The newer models with the electronic ignition modual have not way to adjust the timing. Even widening the gap between the modual and the flywheel will not do it.

What are you trying to do? I assume your talking about ignition timing.

The only timing in a lawnmower engine is on the flywheel /crankshaft end - a keyway between them. Its factory set, the only way it would have a problem is if the flywheel key sheared ( which its supposed to do if the motor stops suddenly to prevent damage) . Whenever removing the flywheel this key should never be reused.
