I was watching NFL network and I just saw a pre-season game played between Miami and Jacksonville. I went on the NFL website and it said that the game wasn't supposed to be played until this saturday. The game was shown on NFL networks "inside training camp show" the score was 16-5. Why was this game shown? How? Aren't NFL games live?

That game you saw was from Aug. 14, 2004. Preseason week 1. This week on Sat. they play at Miami at 7:30pm.

This was the "Hall of Fame" game. It is played the same weekend as the HOF inductions. I think the NFL had an idea to do some last minute negotiations to get it on network TV, but they failed.

The HOF game is traditionaly the first pre-season game of the year.

It had to be a scrimmage game, not Pre-season.

They have been showing scrimmages lately - they showed a Packers scrimmage the other day, and also a Ravens/Redskins scrimmage, so that is what you could have seen.
