What is the worst place on earth?

Where everything is terrible and the economy is depressed. Almost everybody struggles to survive and lacks no real great exports.

I remember a reading a book on the Middle East that had a chapter titled "Sudan, this is the way the world ends." Afghanistan, but they do have a growing poppy industry for export.
