That's the gist of it. Imagine such a law passing 25 years ago in our country?
Feels like sheep going to the slaughter without a bleep don't it?
Its called incrementalism, which is slowly chipping away at something and where the changes are very small, but next thing you know, you won't recognize your country from just 10 years ago.
It also reminds of the story I hear that you can boil a frog alive because by the time it realizes its in boiling water, its too late.

No, that's not correct. The government could always intercept communications its thinks are in the national interest during a time of war. Roosevelt did it, Eisenhower did it, Kennedy did it, Johnson did it, Nixon did it, Carter did it, Reagan did it, Clinton did it, Bush #1 did it. What don't you understand about this. The president......any president can do it and if you try to stop him we will put you in a little square room by yourself till you behave. GOT IT!

That's about it. America is fast becoming a totalitarian state. The Democrats bear responsibility for this happening because they have allowed the Bush administration to get away with murder.

puh-leeze.
You're giving yourself too much credit. The government doesn't monitor EVERY overseas call. They only monitor ones by people of suspicious nature placing calls to nasty places (i.e Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia).
I love it when libs claim that America is being spied on. Chances are, if you think you've been wiretapped by the government, you're putting yourself on a pedestal. You aren't nearly important enough to be monitored.

Yes It's true! The congress was wise enough to pass that legislation. And, no A. G. Gonzales does not give the KO, it's a FISA judge.

no.
however, even before ww2 broke out, FDR ordered the opening of all international mail, and its inspection, before being sent to the citizens.
further, look into Echelon, a project started by Carter, advanced through Ronnie, Bush, and finished by Clinton. Echelon should cause more fear than intercepting satelite conversations between people within two degrees of seperation of a known terrorist.

You have to be suspected of Terrorist activity's. Anyway, why would you care if your phone is tapped? There are millions of conversations going on in every hour of every day. They are looking for key words unless you say Al-Quaeda, I have a bomb, I think I'll blow up the New York Stock exchange your conversation as interesting as you think it might be will never be heard by human ears. Anyway.
