I have been horse-riding for a while now and help out at my stables so I am quite experienced around horses and when I'm older I would like a horse but would only having one at my house be unfair and lonely and I should get two or would having only one horse be ok?

Ideally it would be nice to have two...maybe you could get the horse you want, and then look into a rescue horse that is just a pasture pet?? This one can give "your" horse company, and you would be doing the rescue a service by letting him/her finsh out their day in a loving environment...

I don't think it's a matter of being lonely or not. Lots of people only have one horse. The think you need to keep in mind is that every horse needs at least 3 acres of land to be comfortable and run around. You should not keep a horse if he needs to be penned up all the time, he won't be happy.

I'm sure its fine to get just one if you are going to give it the proper attention. My neighbors bought a goat for their horse to keep it company, because suposedly they make really good companions for horses. You could also board your horse, which does get to be pretty expensive, but then it would be around lots of other horses.

having one horse is perfectly fine. if you have more than one you might be careful because studs will probably fight. i've been around horses since i was 3. i'm your person for horse questions.

Having one is fine but get him/her a companion so even if your not around it always has a friend. House do well with other animals like goat or sheep.

can you afford 2? you should already know how expensive they are just to feed, let alone the vet bills. one is fine on it's own. research the expenses before you do anything.
