Use the "System Restoration CD"

I work professionally in computers. A client today had encountered a problem and had reset his computer back to factory settings. I spent about 3.5 hours getting it going again, re-loading Windows Service Pack 2, the 85 subsequent updates from Microsoft, the broadband connection software and account details, email account details, security software, software for his all-in-one printer. Even then some files are missing because they were in a password protected user account which can no-longer be accessed.

Are you sure you really want to restore your Dell to factory settings?

you can,t just reset back to factory settings, but if you have lost some functions of the pc use the dell website to update the drivers needed or go to start>>>all/programmes>>>accessories>>>system tools then system restore and go back as far as you need that will get you as close to factory settings without a complete formate of h/drive and a load of hassell. (good luck)

Read the user's manual.

If you don't have it, download it from Dell's website.

I say this because all computers are different as to how to do a factory restore. Your Dell-specific restore process will be outlined in the directions.
