Haroula,
it really depends upon the context it is used in. For example, if I said "Damn You" - that would imply a curse and use of a curse word. If I said "damn that hurt!" - that would imply I likely hit my thumb with the hammer while trying to hammer in a nail. Given that I have a right to "free speech" and the internet is an expression of my First Ammendment right - I therefore do NOT consider "damn" to be a curse word. Though, I would never say "damn you" either because this would suggest that I am a hypocrite.
This really doesn't answer your question more than it "creates new ones" - possibly for the Y!A administrators to consider when "they" consider their rules on this place. Even if "free" language was allowed (stronger curse words and other things) on here - I would choose to continue to be true to myself first and write YOU and others in the same manner that I do!
Have a good evening - I am off to bed!

I don't think most people see it as a bad word now. But I know that it was discussed whether you could use such a word in a movie in 1939: "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" - Gone With the Wind (they used damn twice in that movie). It wasn't an unusual word to use in movies but the word that had been prohibited by the 1930 Motion Picture Association's Production Code, which was first enforced in July 1934.
I personally don't swear and I wouldn't say damn. I don't go around cursing people.

My friend, users are also human beings and there're some who are very sensitive on this issue. The word damn can be expressed in many ways :-
1. Damn Good;
2. Damn Interesting;
3. Damn Lousy;
4. Damn Happy;
5. Damn Exciting.
It's just another way of expressing instead of using "very". That contact of yours must be thinking that you are "Con-DAMN", that's why he / she refuses to add you in the contact list. Don't worry, only time will tell.
Cheers :)

Words used in a negative way is never nice but they are just words. In religious societies the word Damn is used to indicate the desire to send one to Hell. As with many old ways it is superstitous in nature. If someone damned you to hell then it would not work unless there is authority from God to do so. How many people do you know have that authority?

I would not give you up as a contact for such a reason but I tend to be a little leery about it because it signifies damnation for all eternity .If you spell the word damm ,it still has the same pronounciation and without the connotation. I respect your opinion no matter what you decide because you are my friend.

She's too religious. If DAMN was that bad of a word, then Yahoo! would bleep it out like the other curse words.

Yes, I consider it a curse word. I think most older people do.
If she's younger maybe she doesn't want her parents to see the name. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with you personally.
