Probably.

I don't fear it much though. This is a public venue and when I plan revolution I do it privately.

Some pretty funny answers to choose from already...

In the short term, I think that most people have little to fear (though I'd be careful if I were a Middle Eastern Studies major). I wouldn't be surprised if there was some method for gathering data on our internet activities. But the massive amount of activity on the internet would, I think, preclude any government individual reading these comments.

Is it possible that a person could come under scrutiny for things posted on the internet? Yes, and it is that kind of government intrusion that we so often debate. Many would prefer to give up others' privacy along with their own (but what do they have to hide, right?) in order to gain security. Personally, I am completely along the lines of privacy unless a compelling reason exists to believe that a person is guilty of a crime.

They might, but they've got no reason to. You might want to consider that in Canada and Mexico the government can spy on anyone at will because they have no equivalent to the Fourth Amendment. In other words, its kind of amusing when Canadians get on our case about not 'protecting' a right that Canadians don't even have!

Since this is after all a public forum it would not require the act of a spy.

Probably. I already feel like I have to watch what I say when I'm talking about politics over the phone. Especially whenever the topic brushes on Terrorism or the Middle East (which it always does since I'm a Middle Eastern Studies major.)

This is a public forum, free for all to read. Sorry, that isn't spying. So that means that the NSA is covered legally if they are in here.

If i was under some sort of look out then yes! but i highly doubt they are looking for me for anything!

Once I was hanging out with this dude who killed someone at a party by druging her (she knew) but the girls played it off as if they didnT! well when i was hanging out with this dude i got pulled over like 4 times with in 3months~ getting tickets and pulled over just because i was hanging out with this nut. so i don't have friends like that anlymore i grew up so there is no need for eyes to be on me!
now if they could read my thoughts i would be fired from usa! lol

Doesn't matter. Freedom of speech. If people in America are thinking twice before saying something dissenting because of potential retribution, then something is terribly wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised and it wouldn't actually be illegal. It is public information and so they can view it without needing a warrant. That is the compromise you take with speaking your opinions aloud or keeping them quietly tucked into the corners of your mind.

I am certain they are already watching my every move.
They have even gone so far as to install a homing device on my crock pot.
