The parking brake used to be known as the emergency brake until some one with really bad brakes couldn't stop in an emergency in time and sued the manufacturer for a really unreasonable amount of money for the situation. Now, for liability, it is called a parking brake.


Also, a firewall is no longer a firewall, because it does not protect the driver or passengers from fires. It is now called a bulkhead

No, emergency brake is the old term for the more correct parking brake. "Emergency brake" gives the idea you can use it when your regular brakes go out, while "parking brake" is only used when parked.

Yes, it does refer to the same thing, but parking brake is the more correct current term.

Yes the same thing it is one in the same when you park and you pull up on the lever that is the emergency brake.

Sure is. I think it probably is more common as the parking break in manual cars. Some people leave there cars in neutral and put the parking break on. Others use it as an extra caution.

not exactly parking brakes is when you are going to park your car and emergancy brakes when your going too fast or your going to crash ,you brake
