that entirely depends on what time the wedding is. And also where the wedding is. My friend is getting married on labor day weekend, at noon at local state park with a mexican fiesta complete with margaritas and coronas for the reception. I am wearing simle red strapless silk dress from banana republic. However, if it had been a church wedding later in the day, i would have worn a bit more conservative dress.
Halter would be good. and I would do probably knee length or mid-calf. You don't say where the wedding is...california is a big place. And the style isn't the same in SF as it is in LA. So just all depends.

They do make bras for a halter top but another option is to have the bra sewn in. The seamstress did that for my wedding gown. I had a strapless. I know that Victoria's Secret carries the bra that can be worn with a halter top. I think you should be able to find it if you pop on their website. I can't because it's blocked on my pc because I'm at work or I would find it for you. The bra straps have a clip in the back that will hold them and the bra is cut so that the band is very low. But check with a seamstress to see how much it would cost to sew a bra in or just the cups. It wasn't much for mine. I want to say that part was only $10 or maybe $20.

I'm in the same predicament. I have a black halter dress that I think I'm going to wear. I was in a wedding saturday and I saw a lot of halters and spaghetti strap dresses as well as just plain old polka dot short sleeve ones. Good luck!
