Brake cleaner sounds good. They dont seem to squeak as much the further south I go. I live in Lubbock, TX. The dust is very prominate. As I go south there is less dust. Good Answer.

Get some spray brake cleaner and spray your pads. Brake dust buildup may be the cause. My '06 does this too.

Yes, check the pads. If they're worn out, you'll have metal on metal and ruin the disc. If there's plenty of pad material left, sometimes dirt or gravel grit can become embedded in the pad or the pad can have a shiny glazed look to it from being too hot. If either, remove the pad and rub it on the sidewalk to break up the glaze or knock out any embedded debris. Sometimes the the pad will vibrate when applied and cause the squeaking noise. Usually the pad is glued to the piston, but if it's come loose that could cause the pad to jump around. If it's loose, use some silicone and glue the pad to the piston and it'll also help quell any vibration.

Check the thickness of your pads first.
Mine started squeeking on a trip through NY. Happened that another HD rider stopped at the same gas station. While we were talking, he told me that brake dust buildup was a common cause. (I never had it happen on any other brand). I stopped at the next car wash, and after hosing it out, the problem was gone.
