The Taliban is like a festering sore filled with rancid pus, refusing to let a people and a nation heal. They thrive on violence in the name of their faith. Should we handle them with extreme measures?

Delphi- It is up to us because -it is the USA that they are now attacking. They hate us. Have you read the recent news? 75 taliban attacked a base. No threat at the time, but a sign they feel inflated to do harm.

Well when thousands of Taliban were promised POW status and surrendered early in the war, half were sent to Gitmo the others were murdered. 1,200 were smothered in airtight containers. There isn't a village in Afghanistan that hasn't at least one score to settle with us.
The British have invaded five times the Russians three times, being invaded is the natural order of things there.

We sure should, as soon as we know who "they" are, where they are and how we identify Taliban from civilian. Where is OBL? Why has he not been captured or killed? We waste our money and our troops on al-Qaida and the Taliban and we will never defeat the way they think, never. We would be better off spending the money securing our borders and having our troops guard our homeland...sorta' like a national guard. The more we run around the world with our military to fight terrorism, the more the world will be against us. We aren't winning anyone over with our actions, will more conflict help?

What an innocent question !!! USA attacked Afghanistan , despite they are the people who gave relief to USA from its 50 years of "cold war" with USSR,
and don't you remember just before the start of war "Mullah Umer" said to
US ,that "you may start war but you will never get rid of it at your own will"
and now after 6 years you are still worried to get control over Taliban ,
forget Taliban , USA is not yet succeeded to kill its 2 prime targets ie Osama & Mulla Umer ,
USA will never win anything in Afghanistan ,
if fire power could win wars then USA should have been victorious in only one week , USA have used biological weapons in Afghanistan also , but of no avail ,
and note , Taleban are not worried of any Atomic bomb , I said this because I know Taleban well ,
in fact USA is traped , and this trap will be fully tied up when USA will attack Iran,Pakistan or Saudi Arabia , that will be the LAST attack of US history.

I've noticed your method of controling the Taliban is by putting the British Army into Helmand Province which your lot made precisely no progress in.
Don't worry, we'll do it where your mighty military couldn't.
We use a little thing called 'tactics.' And we're much better at this little thing called 'ally recognition.'

We need to form a new elite force with valuable resources to handle the Taliban. Anyone acting like or looking like a Taliban should be terminated without hesitation. US laws and procedures of justice should not apply to Taliban -- i.e. fair trial, etc.

The most disturbing answers to your question all revolve around killing...such a typical response from warmongers who also claim to be "pro-LIFE"....not to mention that it seems to play out as being judge/jury/executioner for a race of people who have existed in their lifestyle for thousands of years, while our country is just barely over 230 yrs old. But then again, that mentality is not surprising....look at what we did to the natural inhabitants of this country when we crossed the ocean and 'discovered' America. How can you discover a country that was already populated? Our big brother attitude or the idea that only WE are perfect in our religious beliefs and ideas will be what we have to answer to on judgement day just as they will have to answer to their hatred towards our way of life. But in my honest opinion, we should not be forcing our way of life and our form of government on that region..it has only added fuel to the fire of hatred. Only the people in that region can determine how they want to live...and we should accept that regardless if we agree with it or not.

Either the US Troops should become Taliban and embers Islam or convert the Taliban into US Troops and convert them to Christianity.
Which one is easier you decide or leave them alone and pull back your ugly nose from Afghanistan and Iraq.

We should have secured Afghanistan before going off to invade Iraq for no good reason. The Taliban is well trained, thanks to Reagan, and can keep up these guerilla tactics for a long time.
As for the people who are saying just kill them, killing civilians indiscriminately assures the creation of more terrorists.
