I am 40 weeks pregnant, and think my water may be leaking. I have a docs appointment tomorrow, should I just wait until then or should I call them today? Also, with water leaking do you have any like discharge or anything with it?

When your water is leaking it will be pale and straw-colored and smell sweet, not strong like urine.

You might also have brownish or pinkish "show" with the fluid, or perhaps a slippery, thick discharge which might be parts of your mucus plug.

If your waters really are leaking, then I would call your doctor now and not wait until your appointment. When the membranes rupture, you are at a greater risk of infection. Also, it means your contractions will be starting very soon.

All the best to you - how exciting!!

You don't say if the heater is electric or gas. If it is gas replace it. If you have a electric heater check two things first. Check to see if one of the elements are bad. When a element burns out water will start to leak around the bad element. Also check to see if the drain valve will drain, if not replace the heater. If you buy a new heater remove the drain valve that comes with the new heater and install a ball valve with a water hose connector. You will have a 3/4 in. hole to help flush out the sediment that will build up in the bottom. If you drain 5 gallons of water every two months your new heater will last a life time. Good luck.

I would call today... it could just be a small leak in the amniotic sac. If so, it could totally rupture at any time (which makes quite a mess!), in which case, you'll want to head to the hospital so that you can be monitored and keep from getting an infection.

I would go to the hospital... they can do a quick check and see if you're leaking amniotic fluid. If you are, there is a chance of infection and they will probably keep you.

That happened to me with my first... my water didn't break per se, but I sprung a leak :)

Hun, if you suspect your water is leaking please call your dr and get into the hospital right away. they can do a test to make sure its not and if it is induce your labor. are you having contractions or any type of pain? i would say your gonna go into labor soon but you need to call your dr and let them know that you think your water may be leaking. they can direct you to do the right thing. good luck and congrats.

I would call today before they close just to let the doctor know what is going on because anything can happen between now and tomorrow. Still go tomorrow though but see what the doctor says.

Do not wait, CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW! And head to the hospital. If you are leaking water, then if its not taken care of, you can harm the baby!

Rupture of the membranes, the technical term for breaking the water, may happen before or during labor. When it occurs before labor, it often means that labor is imminent. Your practitioner will need to be notified, and you may be advised to go to your hospital or birth center, even if labor hasn't begun

i would call. waiting until tomorrow can cause an infection. whne my water brok i felt like something was constantly coming out off me, especially when i moved a certain way. i felt like i was really peeing myself for 19 hours! doctors don't like for you water to be broken for more than 24 hours because it can cause infection in uterus and baby
