I think so, most parents dont understand that what they teach the kids isnt neccecerlly what they learn. You got to practice what you preach.

I think at the end of the day you do the best with what you have, no use crying over what you could of done. These days as long as the kids come out loved with some skills related with life (you know, conflict resilution and all) then i think thats great.

The amount of young adults around that lack those fundemental coping skills are the ones that have trouble later in life. I guess they can pick it up later in life though

A major one I'm afraid. I don't know what happened to responsible parenting in this world...but it is lacking, thats for sure!

I work in daycare and you don't even want to know half the horror stories out there. Kids 4 and 5 years old, left to fend for themselves on a daily basis because mom and/or dad is busy working OR...more times than not....doing their OWN thing, while their kids are being cared for by other people.

I am a single mom of three - and I manage to be an active part of each one of their lives. I do not mean to come across condescending, if anyone reads me that way.....but I really just don't understand people having kids...if they're going to let someone else *raise* them.....

One word - responsibility !

Not everyone needs to look at their parenting skills. There are most people doing the right thing for their kids. I have to feel sorry for the ones who dont have time to raise their kids, they will never know the thrill of seeing a child learn a new skill like swimming, or ride a bike. The worst part is the kids know.

Yes. It is one thing to be a parent and do what you are 'Obligated ' to do. It is quite another to go above and beyond and allow that child to be who God created them to be without judgement and negative influences.
Children are individuals and need to be treated as such.

I know some people who certainly do! I used to be rather close to the dad, but I don't think I know him anymore...(how sad, not knowing your own kin...)
