My brain feels fried, and mentally, I feel like a zombie after work. I can't even give my girlfriend the attention she deserves, because I'm so brain dead from thinking so hard all day. What can I do to un-fry my brain, and be more "there" after a long day at work?

I've had those days. I think what might help is if you give yourself sometime to veg out by yourself. Take a nap, listen to a meditation tape, go jogging, do a daily affirmation. Do something that will rejuvenate you and perk you up. Sometimes maybe a shower or bath will help relax you. Than after that hour to yourself you can give to someone else.

When I was stopping to pick up my daughter every afternoon after work, I'd stop in the car, lay my head back and relax. Breathe deep and think about the night ahead. Think about the relaxing times, dinner and what fun things my life held. THink about ANYTHING Other than work. Taking just a few minutes away from both home and work is a great way to destress.

Alcohol is a depressant and should be avoided to keep from being too "unavailable" as well as starting up a dependency on it just to get through the night. Learn to relax and you do BOTH of you a favor.

I often (pretty much daily) feel the same way after work. After you tried working out - going to the gym, running, something to get your sweat on and empty your brain? Usually works well for me...and if I can't must the energy to do that, I go home and take a nap.

your mind, body, and spirit are entwined so tightly, that stress on one will show in the other two...

on the other side of that, anything you do to help any one of those three will show up in the other two.

don't dull your mind with alcohol, that's just stupid. what good is killing off irreplaceable brain cells every day? before too long, you just become an idiot...a Homer simpson in real life.

try doing a little light work-out...nothing tough, just say a quick walk or jog...take your lady with you, letting her know that her health is important to you, and you wanna keep her strong for 'what every comes later'...they dig that stuff. take good care of your body, drink lots of good water ( your brain is very fluid-based ) and spend some time on your spiritual self...

a few minutes spent doing just a bit of maintaining the machine will do wonders for your overall performance!

Head to the gym and get in a workout.
Make it a regular thing. It's hard at first but stick with it and it will be easier and more enjoyable.
It's a must for a healthy and well-adjusted life.

Sadly friend i have been there, and guess what there is no real answer. you either work less or get used to it...i dealt with it a different way, i had a puch bag,id come in my outer door drop my bag. throw a few digs into the bag and go in see my girl....and most nights fall asleep on her legs, didnt get to see my son much. but i changed jobs, got better pay and i see them both more ...
do what you have to do even thou you dont like it but if you try and keep trying it should pay off

Drink a beer then meditate (trust me, it really works) for about 20 minuts. You'll be feeling much better.

I always smoke some pot after work.

It relaxes my brain, and then it's just me that's fried!
