Ants communicate through pheromones.These are chemicals produced by the leader and others lick the substance to understand what the leader wants. One type of pheromone is called alarmone which makes them alarmed to fight with the invader.

Most ants will work all of their lives, approx 3 months. They have a chemical that is left behind wherever it may travel, therefore they can always find their way home and let others in on the trail to food. It's these simple chemicals that instruct the ants on what to do.

They use a variety of chemicals (smells) and sounds as well as physical contact. Without the communication they could not function as a colony.

ofcourse then want do u think the antineas or feelers are there for not only for umm..sight..but for communication...all living creatures do...well...dont know about plants.....maybe they do but we dont know it ......
