They stonewalled lobbying reforms that require lobbyists to disclose taxpayer-funded earmarks for which they’re lobbying Congress, repealed Republican reforms requiring earmarks in tax and authorizing to be publicly disclosed and subject to challenge on the House floor, and killed legislation requiring taxpayer-funded state and local government lobbyists from following the congressional gift ban as they lobby for pork.

They trumpeted passage of a lobbying reform bill largely indistinguishable from the one Republicans passed through the House last year – the bill Democratic leaders condemned at the time as a “sham.”

The problem isn't that the politicians take bribes, that's a given. The problem is that they can pick where & how they can act on those bribes in such a way that it isn't obvious. If the rule was each law/bill had to be about implementing 1 narrowly defined "Good" Idea it would be clear who was in whose pocket & who was looking out for the good of the country. Just have the Law making transparent. They can take all the bribes they want. We can then vote them out of office or the justice department can indicte.

Actually the first bill was "bipartisan" (Henry Waxman from California was the Democrat signatory, I don't actually remember the Republican involved) and it was flatly shut down by the rest of the Republicans. Too many of the clauses applied equally to the office of Vice President, and Mr. Cheney wasn't a fan, so he had it drowned in committee.

They constantly say one element and do yet another. a million. They declare they help our troops, yet they conflict to discredit them every time they get a brilliant gamble. 2. They declare they help freedom of speech, merely no longer for the Christians or the Republicans, nor for the Conservatives. 3. They declare they help freedom of decision, yet they take GOD out of colleges and removed from little ones, and by way of abortion the new child loses the the main suitable option to stay yet they oppose the dying penalty for murderers. 4. with a view to get the undesirable to vote Democrat, they promised to no longer replace the welfare equipment, yet it became between the 1st actual issues they did of their one hundred days.

So basically we went in a full circle and ended up with the same legislation. what's your point? As long as we got the legislation, who cares? As for stonewalling, the Republicans are the only thing keeping the travesty of a war going.

Any argument is easy to win when you only tell part of the story.

You CAN trust (choose one. They're all alike; liberals, socialists, communists, Democrats, totalitarians) to do and say whatever they think will advance the party. Most of it is lies. If they told the truth they would loose face with 85% of Americans. That doesn't win elections.

They also said they'd impeach Bush and Cheney, bring about war crimes charges, end the war, and fix the planet. They have quite the laundry list to accomplish, but then again, it's only been 1 year....
