I would certainly take that bet.
Honestly a good chance neither will. I don't think the Yankees will make the playoffs at all. As for the Sox, even though they are the favorites you first have to factor in that the Tigers, Angels, Mariners and Indians all have very good teams. Any of those teams could get hot and certainly take 4 of 7 from anybody, personally I think the Angels though not as flashy are just as good as the Red Sox.
Then, though the AL is far superior, you do have to factor in the fact that the NL team will have a pulse. Look at last year, the Tigers were a much better team than the Cards, but that's not how it played out on the field.
Oh, wait, this is Yahoo Answers, Totally man, the Yanks have it in the bag. They're SOOOO good, all these haters just totally hate on the Yankees because they're sooooo jealous of all their stars. Totally!

Well since they are both in the A.L. that would never happening but for a playoff match-up this year IF the Yankees make the playoffs I have got to go with the Red Sox...they are ahead in the standings and in head-to-head match-ups. If you look at both teams this year and pick the Yankees you have to be dreaming...the only reason the Yankees are hot right now is because they just had a cup cake part of their schedule. Wait till the end of August after the Yankees play some good teams.

The BoSox would take the series, They have better middle relievers and now with Manny Delcarmen as a set up/closer they have arguable the two best closers. I know Yankee fans are going to say what about Mariano Rivera, but Manny, Ortiz, and Youk have his number. The Sox have the lead in the series and are very good off the bench. Sure the Yanks are always a factor, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make the playoff this year. Yes they are hot now but if Arod goes cold you see what happens; the whole team seems to go cold. Were as the Sox have not gotten the production out of Ortiz and Manny that they are use to and they are still the top team in MLB!!!!!!!!!!!

well, if it is in the playoffs, then the red sox, but if it is a meaningless game at the beginning of the season, then the yankees might win, but only by luck, and alot of overpaid players. I think that Roger Clemens new pitch is very effective though. You know, the rumored one where he throws the basebal wrapped in $100 dollar bills, and the batter can't pick it up, but swings and hits it out of the park anyway. Oh, he doesn't do that, then why does a guy that has a losing record, and gives up that many runs cost that much?

But you don't have $20,000.
The Yankees are currently the hotter of the two teams, but I think in an ALCS matchup (since they couldn't possibly be in the World Series against each other), the Red Sox are the winners.

You could put both team names in a hat and pick one and come up with just as good an answer as you would get from any of us.
