My first name means woman/strong - I hate it and have cursed my parents - their excuse for giving me a poor name was that it is quite an international name - true only because it is a boys name in some countries!!!!!!. I use the short name of Andie because I prefer it!! I'd love to be an Anya or a Jessica instead!!!

My first name means "Lily Princess." It's a combination name (combined from both of my grandmothers' names) and believe me, it's not as pretty as the meaning. It also rhymes with about 10 highly insulting words that even a four-year-old would know to use. I hate it and got so much teasing over it as a child that I would come home crying and then scream at my mother for being so selfish.

I'd prefer Avalon, instead. It's of Celtic origin (both the names that make up my real name are of Hebrew origin, of which I have no heritage), sounds mysterious, classical, but not childish or an old-lady name. It's unique, hard to rhyme up, has positive associations and a cute nickname, which, incidentally, is my user ID, Avie.

I really do like the idea of parents giving children temporary names at birth and letting them choose their own names as they get older. It makes a lot more sense to me, especially because some parents (like mine) have very poor taste.

My father changed the name he had in mind at the last moment, because it happened to be the first name of one of the Presidental candidates that year. He had a job were he felt that it could be mistaken as a political endorsement, and he was not allow to endorse a candidate. So he switched to a different name at the last second - and had no clue how to spell it. So I have been stuck with a really strange spelling of an uncommon name ever since.

But hey, it makes me unique. I hve searched and never yet found anyone with the same spellings as mine. So I love it.

(Most of the time I use the nickname "dew")

I expect your parents gave you that for a reason. Ummm you of course may be angry because you are in fact a male rather than female. In that case it wouldn't be nice to call your son a woman. If you are a female then cursing your parents for doing their best is a bit of a shame. You can of course change your name. But I think names become part of you and when you give it up you lose a bit of your identity that has been given as a gift by your parents.

My name is Marcia. My mother chose it at random. It has it's roots in Latin and means Marshall and/or war like, being associated with the God of war, Mars. The Roman Emperor Claudius kept meticulous lists of household expenditure including employees and salaries. Historians have some of these lists and on one of them is the name Marcia listed under house maid. I am not 2000 years old so it wasn't me. A part from that I HATE my name. In Canada I was called Marsha which is not the given pronunciation.

I believe my name Peter means rock. I would have preferred a more unusual name as my surname is very common here. I heard on the radio however that a couple with a surname Sprout name their son Russel, thus Russel Sprout so guess we all should think ourselves lucky lol

Psalm 80 3:18: "that folk would understand which you, whose call is Jehovah, You on my own are the main severe over all the earth." a typical translation of God's call "YHWH' is Jehovah. Jesus, a.ok.a. Yeshua, is Jehovah's Son- the 1st off creation yet no longer God himself. you're certainly terrific suited once you say human beings can harm God's feeling's as noted in Genesis 6:6 "And Jehovah felt regrets that he had made adult adult males interior the earth, and he felt harm at his coronary heart." yet He did no longer injury the international interior the act of an uncontrollable temper tantrum yet because of the fact it became crammed with wickedness. Jehovah's Witnesses hire His call, yet greater advantageous than that, we strive to thrill him each 2nd of on a daily basis of our life. we've a "healthful' worry of God- no longer a dreadful trembling of his wrath, yet a heartfelt worry of inflicting him unhappiness. we like Him, and serve him out of affection.
