ill tell you how. as a SF native. bonds is the reason why we still have a team in SF. in 1992 the owners were about to move SF to florida, st petersburg to be exact. also in 1992 we signed bonds and he kept the giants in SF and he has been here ever since. he has provided us with years of entertainment and competitive playoff teams(until the past 3 years, the giants were always good). steroids or not, bonds is the reason why we have a team. even if you gave steroids to every player how many can do what bonds did? i can think of 2: pujols, arod. thats it. no other player has the bat speed, the eye, the hand eye coordination, the power, the plate discipline like bonds does. bonds is the greatest HR hitter of all time and the most feared hitter of all time. how many players are going to accumulate or even get close to his # of walks? only arod and pujols can. and pitchers facing bonds also used steroids too. bonds' accomplishments are great and there is no proof that he used steroids. until he fails a drug test, he is innocent until proven guilty. it's unfair bonds gets all the hate. people think lance armstrong used steroids but he gets the benefit of the doubt and is a hero. why? because he survived cancer we should give him a free pass? why not give a pass to bonds? everyone wants to say hank aaron did it with class? well he admitted to taking amphetamines. so if he gets a pass why not bonds?

Adding to the person's brilliant answer above me [what?], I would also like to say that the media portayal of Bonds is not what SF fans see with Barry firsthand. Perhaps this is why other fans across the country dont understand how we can rally behind Barry and be proud of what he is doing. The Bonds that is presented to America through mass media, is not the same Bonds that SF fans have loved since '92.

I am not from San Francisco, nor have I ever lived in California. But I will tell you this, as a baseball fan I am very proud of Barry. I don't have my head buried in poo thinking every player from past era's were clean. A real baseball fan doesn't go around praising people they "perceive" to be clean while passing judgment on Barry.

You can add yourself to the list of those that sit in judgment without all the facts. I am not a Giants or Bonds fan but just another baseball fan that is willing to give him credit for his unbelievable accomplishments. Luke, it is nice to see that there are others willing to take a stand and let "due process" run its course. Maybe I will let you pick up the fight, I think I have been at it too long.

Yeah, I am proud of him. The man works very hard and is evident because of his 755 hrs. When he was in a 2 for 18 slump, he extended his batting practice so he could get a comfortable swing. His accomplishments cannot be ignored, steroids, or no steroids. Look at Mcquire, he only had 583 hrs and thats it, and he was juicing his whole career.

I dont like him and dont like any player that is suspected of cheating. I didnt even like Palmero when he played for my team the Os. Didnt like Sammy Sosa either. Never like McGwire. I dont like cheats or even players that have a decent case against them.
